Celebrating Our History Since 1976

Old South Day

Ochlocknee takes great pride in hosting Old South Day, a food and arts and crafts festival we have celebrated every year since 1976. Enjoy craft booths, small rides for kids and bounce houses as well as a parade, all centered around the Herring's old cane mill by the Civic Club. Join us the second Saturday every November!

Making Cane Syrup the Old-Fashioned Way

The Cane Mill

Mr. Ronny Herring and his wife Sharon produce their “Old South” brand of Kettle Cooked Pure Georgia Cane Syrup at the syrup factory in town. They've been growing cane and bottling cane syrup since 1975. At Old South Day, you'll get an chance to see how cane syrup used to be made—the old-fashioned way!
